An elderly woman has died after she was knocked down by a car in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

The pedestrian, who was in her 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision at Woodside Grove in Rathfarnham at around 4.40pm.

The driver of the car, a woman also in her 80s, was taken to St James's Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for a technical examination but has re-opened.
