A semi-automatic shotgun and drugs worth more than €1m have been seized in Dublin.

Gardaí say the weapon was observed being handed over between two vehicles in the Finglas area on Tuesday.

The vehicles were stopped and the firearm was recovered.

A 31-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman were arrested.

In follow up searches, heroin and mixing agent with an approximate value of €900,000 and cocaine worth an estimated €140,000 were seized.

A sum of cash was also recovered.
