Four new monitoring buoys have been placed around Dublin Bay as part of environmental monitoring by Dublin Port during its Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project.
The platforms will provide real-time, detailed sea-state data on water clarity, wave and other information.
The buoys will also be used for acoustic detection of whale and dolphin activity during the project.
The will send their data back to shore by 4G or satellite every 20 minutes.
The CoastEye Monitoring Buoys are part of a €1.8m monitoring contract awarded to TechWorks Marine.
The devices were put in place with the assistance of the Irish Lights Vessel Granuaile.
These buoys will continue to monitor for a period of years building up a detailed picture of the state of the bay.
