A man in his 20s is continuing to be questioned by gardaí in connection with the murder of a mother-of-two in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

24-year-old Jennifer Poole was stabbed to death at her home in Melville Drive in Finglas at around 2pm.

A man seen jumping from the balcony of the apartment afterwards was subsequently arrested.

The man, who is in his 20s and was known to Ms Poole, is still being questioned at Finglas Garda Station.

His period of detention has been extended and he can be questioned for a total of 24 hours.

The murder scene remains sealed off for further forensic examination.

Ms Poole's two children are being cared for by relatives.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or footage to contact them.
