Gardaí seized a firearm during a search in Tallaght, Dublin, today.

Two people were arrested after the search by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau.

Gardaí said the intelligence-led operation was targeting organised crime in the south Sublin area.

A 28-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested and are being questioned at Tallaght Garda Station.

Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll of Special Crime Operations said: "An Garda Síochána is determined to remove firearms, that have the capacity to kill, from our streets and to identify those who we suspect are willing to use them."
