A 29-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Michal Kurek in Dublin last year.

Mr Kurek’s body was discovered in a laneway off the Ballyboughal to Oldtown Road on 4 August 2017.

The 34-year-old, who was originally from Poland, had sustained multiple stab wounds.

Sebastian Barczuk, of no fixed abode, appeared before Dublin District Court this morning where he was charged with murdering Mr Kurek at an unknown location on 3 or 4 August last year.

Garda Ross Rowan told the court he arrested Mr Barczuk in Ballbriggan Garda Station last night.

When charged with murder, he said Mr Barczuk replied: "I'm innocent".

He was granted legal aid after Garda Rowan said there was no objection.

Judge Michael Walsh remanded Mr Barczuk in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
