A man has been arrested after a number of searches were carried out this morning targeting the proceeds of organised crime.

The investigation has been under way for the last six months.

Twenty-one searches were carried out in Louth, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan and Dublin by the Criminal Assets Bureau, the Garda Emergency Response Unit, Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Customs officials and local gardaí.

Approximately €27,800 and £1,570 in cash, two stolen caravans, a Mercedes Benz, a selection of garden strimmers and lawn mowers, a small amount of cannabis herb and cocaine, and a Rolex watch were seized.

A quantity of documents and mobile phones are being examined by gardaí.

In addition, gardaí said a freezing order has been made on "a substantial sum of money" in a financial institution.
