A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of a woman and the injury of another in a hit-and-run in Killiney last week.
Jacqueline McGovern died after she was hit by a car while out walking on Avondale Road. Her friend, with whom she was walking, was seriously injured.
Darren Rowe, 34, with an address at 41 Dunedin Terrace in Monkstown, Co Dublin, was brought before Judge Grainne Malone at Dún Laoghaire District Court.
He was charged with endangerment creating substantial risk of death or serious harm to another at Avondale Road in Killiney at around 9.20pm on Tuesday 10 March.
He was also charged with the robbery of a Centra shop on the Barnhill Road in Dalkey on the same date.
Detective Garda Brian Davoren gave evidence of arresting the accused at Cabinteely Garda Station.
Judge Malone granted legal aid after hearing he is on disability benefit. Mr Rowe spoke briefly to nominate his defence solicitor.
There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Friday 27 March at 10.30am when the court heard there will be a bail application.
Two other men have been charged in connection with the robbery of the Centra store.
