A 29-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Limerick boxer Kevin Sheehy.

Logan Jackson, of Longford Road in Coventry, was charged with the murder of the 20-year-old at Hyde Road in Limerick on 1 July.

The court heard Mr Jackson made no reply when charged with Mr Sheehy's murder at Roxboro Garda Station yesterday.

He was granted free legal aid remanded in custody to appear via video link next Tuesday, 9 July.

Members of Mr Sheehy's family were in court for the brief hearing.
