The Criminal Assets Bureau has carried out a search operation in Co Galway as part of an investigation into a member of an organised crime gang.

Documents relating to financial accounts, the purchase of vehicles and property were seized.

A revenue assessment for €500,000 was also served on a individual at the house in Tuam.

The CAB search was carried out with the assistance of the Regional Armed Support Unit, Western Region.

In a statement, CAB said: "The search was focused on  targeting the assets and activities of an individual member of an organised crime gang involved in incidents of burglary and theft of high end vehicles, plant and machinery across the country."
