Aldi has today unveiled plans for a new €11.4m store on Dooradoyle Road in Limerick.

The supermarket group said that up to 30 permanent positions will be created when the new store opens at the end of 2024.

Up to 50 jobs will also be supported during the construction period of the new store.

The new store is being built on a previously unused greenfield site and will be powered by 100% green electricity, supported by 90 square metres of solar panels on its roof.

Aldi said the new Dooradoyle store will also feature a unique grass roof.

Earlier this year, Aldi was granted final planning permission by An Bord Pleanála to open its new store on Roches Street in Limerick city, which is set to open in the middle of 2023 and will be Aldi's fourth store in Co Limerick.

Aldi said it currently partners with six food and drink producers across Limerick, spending €9.5m with them last year.
