Virgin Media Ireland says it grew revenue by 3% in the first half of the financial year to €224 million.

According to a statement, the group added 5,000 broadband subscribers and 19,900 mobile customers year-on-year.

Pay-TV subscriber numbers were up 22,500 following the launch of its Virgin TV360 platform.

Virgin Media Television had an average 18.2% share of viewing across its four channels.

That represented a year on years increase of 11%, the company said.

It said data usage increased by 91% year-on-year and that broadband speed averaged at 19GB daily in what was a period of high demand for broadband, as people continued to work from home and lockdown restrictions encouraged high rates of entertainment consumption.

Virgin said it now has 434,500 fixed-line customer relationships and 123,700 mobile customers in Ireland.
