The Minister for Health has sought a report from the Health Service Executive into the practice of circulating Covid-19 test results to employers before workers.
On Tuesday, the HSE announced it was to discontinue the practice after RTÉ revealed that workers were often being informed of the outcome of their tests by employers and not by the HSE or outbreak teams who had conducted the tests.
The Minister has said today in a letter to Denis Naughten TD that, "the principle of confidentiality is important and one we should adhere to".
The Minister has also confirmed that a report has been sought on the outbreak of the virus at meat processing plants. He said that the National outbreak Team is finalising the report and it is to be consider by NPHET tomorrow.
