Belfast-based care provider Connected Health is to create 200 jobs in Ireland after acquiring a controlling interest in Dublin-based Home Care Plus.

Home Care Plus currently employs 160 people, but this is set to more than double over the next year.

The jobs are set to be created in Leinster and Connaught as part of Connected Health's planned expansion in Ireland.

"We share the same values [as Home Care Plus], both in our dedication to quality service delivery and our commitment to continuous staff development," said Connected Health CEO Douglas Adams.

"Our new relationship will allow us to expand our brand of enhanced care provision with the help of technology into the all-Ireland arena."

"Home Care Plus is delighted with the investment of Connected Health in our business," said Michael Harty, founder of Home Care Plus.

"We expect Connected Health's in-depth sector knowledge; experienced management team and financial clout will enable us to take full advantage of the opportunities in the Irish homecare market."

Connected Health's investment in Home Care Plus was financed by Ulster Bank.
