Dublin-based transport technology firm iCabbi has announced plans to create 120 jobs over the next three years, with 60 new jobs coming on stream in the short term.

The company said it will more than double its office space on Dublin's north side to accommodate the new teams as it moves forward to creating a global innovation centre for the taxi industry in Dublin.

The new positions will be in development, product, design, business development and marketing.

Founded in Dublin in 2010, iCabbi provides dispatch management software to taxi fleets across Ireland, the UK, the US and Canada.

Customers using iCabbi’s platform have successfully completed over 350,000,000 bookings - the equivalent of over 1 billion kilometres.

The company said its new innovation centre will leverage trip data like this to inform product and operational improvements for their customer base.

"Our customer base is alive with ideas on how to move their business and the industry forward. iCabbi will unite and unleash the potential of a fragmented sector," commented Gavan Walsh, iCabbi CEO and co-founder.
