An Bord Pleanála has given the go-ahead for a casino, 500-bedroom hotel and racetrack complex at Two-Mile-Borris in County Tipperary.
The 800-acre project is supported by the Independent TD, Michael Lowry, who welcomed today's decision. The board, however, refused permission for a 15,000-seater music venue at the site.
The project's main backer, Richard Quirke, welcomed the decision, saying he had told his design team and management to 'proceed to the next appropriate stages of the development'.
Project architect Brian O'Connell said that the backers were also planning to apply for an extension to upgrade the facility to a world class equestrian centre, to include both closed and open arenas and a polo field.
