There are fears that redundancies are to be announced as part of a major restructuring at the Shannon Aerospace maintenance company based at Shannon in Co Clare.
The company - a subsidiary of the global Lufthansa Technik company based in Hamburg-employs 628 full time staff in Shannon. Its also employs a number of part time staff and interns on its training programme.
The base at Shannon specialises in the maintenance and overhaul of Airbus, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas planes.
Staff have been called to a meeting at the Shannon base tomorrow morning, in which the company is due to discuss a reorganisation of the company and its plans to sustain a viable business in the region.
