US company LinkedIn, which operates a networking site for professionals, has said it is opening its new international headquarters in Dublin.
LinkedIn said it would manage its international expansion from Dublin, working with teams from the growing London office which opened in 2008, and the Netherlands office opened in January this year.
Kevin Eyres, managing director of LinkedIn Europe, said the network now had more than 14 million members in Europe and 60 million worldwide. It makes money from user subscriptions, advertising sales and software licensing.
It did not give any exact figure for the number of new jobs to be created, but said it planned 'several new positions' in Dublin, including positions in marketing, sales, finance and customer service.
IT support company to expand in Antrim
A technology support company in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, is to provide 88 new jobs through an expansion. Northgate Managed Services said it was investing more than £19m, backed by £2.6m from Invest Northern Ireland.
Northgate says the investment will help safeguard 240 jobs at its head office near North Belfast. Northgate provides IT support to customers in both the public and private sectors, with local authorities among its biggest customers. It helps them use technology to improve the way they run their organisations.
