Ryanair is to open its 40th base at Kaunas, Lithuania's second largest city, in May. The base is the airline's first in Central Europe.
Ryanair said it will base two aircraft at Kaunas and will operate a total of 18 routes from the airport as part of an investment worth $140m.
It said the new base will deliver up to one million passengers a year and will sustain 1,000 jobs at Kaunas.
The airline also confirmed today that it is in talks with four other Central European airports to open new bases.
