Kilkenny businessman Terry Clune, the founder of, was named 2009 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Dublin last night.

Mr Clune was first announced as winner of the industry category before receiving the overall title from President Mary McAleese.

He won the award for taking from a student scheme to a business with a projected turnover of €90m this year. The company provides income tax services for individuals and businesses operating abroad.

The company employs more than 600 people in 20 countries - with 110 staff based in Ireland.

Hugh O'Donnell of Kentz Engineering was named International Entrepreneur of the Year and Mike Fitzgerald of Altobridge became the Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year.
