There were some emotional scenes at the Jacob's biscuits plant in Tallaght this afternoon.

The factory ceased manufacturing at the plant in West Dublin this week after a gradual wind-down of production.

Last year, the company's parent, Jacob Fruitfield, announced it was to gradually move production of the famous biscuits out of the country, with the loss of 220 jobs.

Jacob's biscuits have been manufactured in Dublin for the past 156 years. The company continues to employ around 100 people in Ireland, in a variety of roles.
