75 jobs are to go in Ballyshannon, County Donegal, with the liquidation of a local mechanical building services contractor, James Likely Ltd. The business was set up in 1970 and at its peak employed 150 staff.

But the collapse of the construction industry, intense competition and an increase in bad debts is being blamed for the demise of the company.

There was better jobs news from Dublin, where Kings Laundry has announced that it will increase its workforce from 110 to 150 people by the autumn of this year. It says the increase is to handle its growing business in the healthcare sector.

The Tallaght-based company says it has already invested €1.5m this year in new machinery, software and logistics support.
