Job losses are expected to be announced tomorrow at Bausch & Lomb in Waterford city.
Management at the US-owned multinational, which makes eye care products, plans to meet all employees tomorrow to update them on developments in the business.
The company says it will brief other stakeholders and the media when it has communicated with all employees.
Bausch & Lomb put most of its 1,400 workers on short-time working at the end of January.
It is believed that between 150 and 200 redundancies will be sought by management, with packages and proposals on voluntary severance being put to staff over the coming weeks.
Union representatives are due to meet at lunchtime tomorrow. Most staff are currently working three weeks out of every four as part of the short-time working arrangements.
