Support and outsourced service group Newcourt saw revenues rise by 34% in the first half in the year, but pre-tax profits fell from €5.2 million to €1.7 million.

The firm is one smaller stocks listed on the Irish Stock Exchange but it has an interesting mix of business interests including security, recruitment and student accommodation.

H1 revenue rose by €22m from €66m to €88m, driven by a 51% increase in the support services sector.

The company's recruitment business held its own in the period, but trading profits in the student accommodation area fell by 9%.

Newcourt has said that it is allowing for the expected drop in value of its healthcare site the Aldborough Clinic.

Shares in the firm closed down one cent at 42 cent in Dublin.
