More than 2.1 million passengers passed through Dublin Airport last month, which was 9% more than September 2006, though passengers travelling on domestic routes fell by 5%, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.

Passenger volumes to/from continental Europe rose 7% to more than 1.2 million and UK traffic was unchanged with 710,000 passengers travelling, and passengers to/from North America rose 14% to 156,000.

However, the number of passengers travelling on domestic routes fell by 5% to 77,000, the DAA said.

Traffic to the Middle-East (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), northern Africa (Sharm El Sheik) and South Africa(Capetown) rose 14% to more than 19,000 passengers travelling last month to those destinations.
