JetBird, the Dublin-based group aiming to be the first pan-European low-cost operator of executive jets, has appointed Mr Stefan Vilner as its first chief executive.
Mr Vilner is the chief commercial officer of Sterling Airways, Europe's fourth-largest low fares carrier.
He is also chairman of the European Low Fares Airlines Association, whose members include Ryanair and EasyJet. The Dane also spent three years working with Go, a low-cost carrier set up by BA.
Commencing operations in April, 2009, JetBird says it will offer a private jet service at up to 50% less than currency operators.
The group was founded by Dómhnal Slattery, the Irish entrepreneur and financier, and formerly MD of the structured asset finance of Royal Bank of Scotland.
It aims to lead its operations from several hubs across Europe to a network of about 75 airports.
The fledging airline is backed by Claret Capital, a private equity group headed by Clare-born businessman Dómhnal Slattery.
