Dublin's economy will today receive a boost of almost €3m as Dublin Port plays host to the 110,000 tonne 'Golden Princess', which arrives in the city for a one-day stopover.

This is the vessel's first of eight visits this year and forms part of the cruise season, which will see 80 cruise liners bring €50m to Dublin in 2005.

The cruise liner is almost 1,000 feet long, the equivalent in length of three football pitches and carries almost 3,000 passengers and over 1,000 crew members.

The Dublin Port Company has seen the number of visiting cruise liner passengers calling at Dublin increase steadily over the last few years and will welcome a record 50,000 passengers and 25,000 crew during the 2005 season.
