Momentum in the euro zone services sector lost steam in April from March, as a key index fell to its lowest point in four months, NTC Research said today.

It said its purchasing managers' index of service sector activity fell from 53 in March to 52.8. A reading above 50 still indicates a sector is still expanding.

Earlier this week, the group reported that its manufacturing index for the 12-nation euro zone slipped below 50 to 49.2 in April, indicating a contraction in the sector.

The composite index, which combines services and manufacturing, fell to 51.8 in April from 52.6 in March.
