Enterprise, Trade & Employment Minister Micheal Martin says the Government intends to fully implement 70% of the recommendations made in the report of the Enterprise Strategy Group.
The Minister today outlined details of an action plan aimed at implementing the body's report on future industrial policy.
The report made 52 recommendations including proposals to develop domestic industry, to improve infrastructure and to shift economic strategy towards developing a knowledge based economy.
An expert group, comprising four senior figures 'representative of the enterprise sector' is to be set up to advise the Minister on implementation.
Mr Martin also said he had ordered changes in Enterprise Ireland's overseas and marketing support division, and would make a 'detailed announcement' on a restructuring of Enterprise Ireland in the coming weeks.
He has also asked FAS and Enterprise Ireland to expand and develop the existing FAS Graduate Programme, which has created graduates who have lived or are living in our most important export markets.
Other measures include plans to increase R&D spending and greater cooperation between Forfas, IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland.
