A report commissioned by IDA Ireland has said there are a number of areas of opportunity for Ireland in the international financial services sector.

The report, by Deloitte, points to areas such as securitisation, asset management and the management of global or regional banking products.

The report says there is a need to develop the education system to ensure courses are relevant to the industry's needs. It also recommends a programme to provide support and other incentives for the development of new products.

The report also calls for further changes in the tax system to make Ireland more 'capital friendly', and a new drive to promote Ireland as a financial centre.
