Gardaí investigating the murder of a man in his late 20s, whose body was found in Drumcondra on Saturday, have appealed for anyone who noticed "activity which drew their attention" in the Home Farm Road area over much of last week to contact them.

It is understood the man sustained gunshot injuries.

A man in his 30s who was arrested in connection with the investigation is still being detained at a garda station in north Dublin, where he can be held for up to seven days.

The missing person appeal to trace Mr McCarthy's whereabouts has been stood down.
