A 34-year-old man has been arrested following the seizure of almost a €500,000 in cash.
Officers from the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Unit discovered the money after they stopped a truck coming out of the Port Tunnel last night.
The vehicle was being driven towards Dublin Port.
€488,000 was found hidden among machinery.
Gardaí believe the cash belongs to a north Dublin criminal gang with links to a senior figure on the continent.
The man was arrested in a follow up operation today and is being detained at Mountjoy Garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He was arrested on suspicion of participating in the activities of a criminal gang and can be questioned for up to seven days
Last year, the drugs and organised crime bureau seized over €5 million in cash and returned a further €8m to the Exchequer.
