The details of a redress scheme for thousands of homeowners whose properties were built with defective blocks will go to Cabinet this morning.
The scheme will offer a 100% grant for repair and rebuilding works up to a total of €420,000.
However, the amount that homeowners will receive per square foot of each property was still being worked on late last night.
Campaigners in Donegal had rejected an earlier proposal that would see payments set at €138 per square foot.
They had called for that figure to be raised to €150.
Last night, Government sources said the €138 figure was always viewed as an average amount, amid indications that it would be increased.
The scheme is also expected to be open to rental properties if they were registered with the Residential Tenancies Board at the beginning of this month.
The final cost of the scheme could run to more than €2 billion.
