The Garda Ombudsman has said it received 19 protected disclosures in relation to An Garda Síochána last year, down from 31 in 2019 - a reduction of over 38%.
Two files were sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions in 2020 who directed no criminal proceedings were to be pursued in each case.
Eleven other cases were closed last year requiring no further action.Five were withdrawn by the discloser, four were found not to have reached the threshold for wrongdoing while two others were submitted to the Garda Commissioner.
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission said 75 protected disclosure investigations were ongoing at the end of last year.
The figures are published today in the Ombudsman's protected disclosures annual report.
The law prohibits the identification of people making such disclosures.
