Two men have died after a car they were travelling in entered water near Glengarriff in west Cork early this morning.

A third occupant of the car was airlifted to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries while a fourth man was uninjured.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the Kenmare Road at 5.30am.

The incident happened near the Caha Pass

A man in his 40s and a boy in his late teens were pronounced dead at the scene. They were local to the area.

Gardaí in Bantry are appealing for any witnesses to contact them and are also appealing for any road users who may have dash cam footage to come forward.
