A man and a woman have been arrested by gardaí in Limerick following a significant seizure of drugs.

The drugs, believed to be cocaine worth around €440,000, were seized in the Corbally area on the Limerick-Clare border last night.

Gardaí investigating the activities of organised crime groups in Limerick carried out a search of a house in Corbally shortly before midnight when the drugs were found.

A woman in her 40s was arrested at the house and is being questioned at Henry Street Garda Station.

In a follow-up operation this morning, a man in his 40s was arrested in the Castletroy area of Limerick and is also being questioned by gardaí.

This is the second significant drugs seizure in Limerick in the past two days.

Gardaí seized another quantity of cocaine, estimated to be worth €70,000 on Thursday evening last after stopping and searching a vehicle, also in the the Castletroy area. 

Two men, both aged in their 20s, are being held for questioning in relation to this incident.
