People have been urged to stay away from each other and keep observing social distancing on Mother's Day.

Minister for Health Simon Harris acknowledged that asking people to stay away from each other created anxiety and unease.

However, he urged people to find other ways to show their appreciation. 

Mr Harris paid tribute to mothers in the health service and also those in retail outlets making sure people could still access fresh food.

Overall, 102 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Ireland yesterday bringing the total to 785.
