Three men are still being questioned tonight after they were arrested by gardaí in Drogheda today as part of an investigation into an ongoing feud in the town.
Gardaí say the men were seen acting suspiciously in the vicinity of a stolen car which was burnt out.
Armed officers from the emergency response unit along with local gardaí moved in to arrest the men but they took off at speed in a BMW car.
They were pursued and arrested when the car was forced to stop a few kilometres away.
The men who are all in their 20's and are known feuding gang members are being detained in Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations. They can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
Gardaí say that today's operation was carried out under Operation Stratus, the specialist Garda operation set up to target feuding in Drogheda.
The feud has led to a series of shootings, petrol bomb attacks, a kidnapping and other violence incidents.
