Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten has said there will be specific measures in the next budget to help meet the Government's climate change goals.

On the issue of a carbon tax, Minister Naughten said there "would have to be changes".

However, said he would not be giving the details at this point.

Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan said the Government response was not good enough, and called for a special Oireachtas committee to be established.

Mr Naughten also said he was not aware of the story in today's Sunday Business Post that the Government had hired private investigators to monitor hospital consultants as part of the Government's case in the legal proceedings over pay.

He said he did not know the details and was not going to comment on it.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health said there was no comment on the story, which is the subject of legal proceedings.
