A man has been arrested after an explosion in east Belfast.

It happened in the Fraser Pass area of the city shortly after 8.15 pm last night.

The 32-year-old man was detained on suspicion of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland said there were no injuries and officers remain at the scene.

PSNI Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: "The 32-year-old man was arrested early this morning and is currently in custody."
