TV sport producer Kieran Creaven has been dismissed from RTÉ with immediate effect.
Creaven pleaded guilty at a court in England earlier this week to grooming and trying to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
The 55-year-old was arrested and charged last month.
The offences took place between 17 July and 18 November this year.
The judge told him he would get credit for his early plea when he returned for sentencing on 12 February next year.
