Six foreign nationals discovered in the rear of a truck in Co Laois yesterday are being processed by the Department of Justice's Reception and Integration Agency.
Three men and two women, all in their 30s, and a child were taken to hospital as a precaution but are understood to be in good health.
It is believed they made their way onto the truck, which was carrying meat products in a chilled unit, in mainland Europe.
The driver was unaware of their presence until he heard noises coming from the rear of the truck shortly after 5pm yesterday.
The driver of the truck pulled over on the N80 near Stradbally and alerted gardaí.
On opening the container, gardaí found the six people inside.
