Mercedes is to recall one million cars sold around the world because of a fire risk.
The recall affects some of the company's most popular models, including the C-Class and the E-Class.
There has been no confirmation of a recall in Ireland but some 75,000 cars are to be recalled in the UK.
Cars sold in Britain and Ireland are made in the same factories so cars here are also likely to be affected.
The cars being recalled have all been manufactured and sold in recent years.
There have been no reports of death or injury as a result of 51 fires reported.
