A woman has been arrested in connection with an attack on another woman in Drumcondra in north Dublin earlier this week.

The 36-year-old victim was stabbed in the neck on Drumcondra Road on Tuesday evening.

Gardaí had been following a definite line of inquiry in the investigation into the attack.

The victim was walking home from work when a woman came up to her just before 5.30pm on Tuesday, stabbed her in the neck and robbed her handbag.

She was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

A garda on the beat was the first person on the scene and got a description of the suspect.

The 33-year-old suspect was first arrested in Tallaght yesterday for a public order offence before being released and rearrested just before 10pm on suspicion of assault and robbery.

She was transferred to Mountjoy Garda Station and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
