A man in his 40s has been arrested after a man who was found with head injuries in Waterford city centre on Christmas Day died in hospital.
Agnius Naumovas, who was from Lithuania but had been living in the city, was found on Margaret's Avenue in the city at around 8pm on Christmas Day.
The 29-year-old was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where his injuries were described as serious.
Mr Naumovas died yesterday evening.
A post-mortem examination has been carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.
A 41-year-old man was arrested in the Waterford city area this morning.
It is understood that he knew the victim, but is not related to him.
The arrested man, who is also not Irish, is being questioned at Waterford Garda Station.
