A 37-year-old man has died in a landslide on a windfarm site in the Ballyfarnon area of Co Roscommon.
It is believed the man and a colleague were working with a machine on a mountainside when there was a land slippage at around 6.30pm yesterday.
A search and rescue operation was launched, but was hampered by the difficult terrain and foggy conditions which prevented the Coastguard helicopter from assisting.
The man's body was recovered at around 2am this morning.
Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.
The man was employed by Moriarty Civil Engineering and Construction Company, which was working on the General Electric windfarm project.
Colin Scott of Moriarty's described the tragedy as shocking and said that his thoughts are with the man's wife.
