AIB has announced a number of job losses across its retail and business banking network.

The bank says it will be on a voluntary basis and there will be no compulsory redundancies.

An email was sent to staff this morning.

While the exact number has not been set, the Financial Services Union says the number has been limited to 150.

AIB says there will be no branch closures or reductions in hours associated with this.

It applies to anyone with over 15 years of service.

In a statement, the bank said: "There is an opportunity for a limited number of staff to avail of voluntary severance and therefore we have decided to open a programme now."
