A man has been arrested following a shooting incident in Dublin this evening.

The incident took place at Drumalee Park, North Circular Road, at around 5.25pm when a man was approached by another man with a firearm.

The first man fled into his back garden and into his house. A number of shots were fired at him as he entered the house. He was uninjured.

The attacker then fled the scene in a red car being driven by a second male.

A car on fire was recovered a short time later at Regal Park, just off Blackhorse Avenue. Both scenes are currently preserved for a forensic examination.

Two firearms were recovered near the scene by gardaí.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and is being detained at Store Street Garda Station.

Gardaí believe the shooting may be connected to the ongoing feud between the Hutch and Kinahan cartels as members of the Hutch family live in the area where the attack took place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area to contact them at the Bridewell Garda Station on 01 6668000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
