An investigation is under way into the death of a man whose body was discovered at a house at Rathcormac, Co Cork.

The discovery was made at 10am at a house at Manor Mills, a housing estate at the northern end of the village.

It is understood that the body is that of a Polish man.

The State Pathologist's Office has been informed, and the post-mortem will be conducted by Acting Deputy State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan. 

The house where the body was found has been sealed off and will be technically examined.

It is understood that Dr Mulligan is due to conduct a preliminary examination at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be carried out in University College Hospital in Cork tomorrow morning.

Gardaí say the results of the examination will dictate the direction their investigation will take.
