A representative for Traveller families evicted from the closed halting site in Woodlands Park in Dundalk in January has written to Louth County Council's Director of Housing Joe McGuinness and Chief Executive Joan Martin to complain that her daily attempts to make contact had been ignored since 12 March.

In an email Rebecca Quinn said Louth County Council was aware that some of the "families have had to remove their children from school", adding that families were exposed to "daily health and safety risks".

A number of the families are living in an illegal halting site with no running water or sewage facilities.

Ms Quinn said that she had forwarded the email to her solicitor and to a number of journalists "so that this matter can be moved forward and resolved immediately".
